Hmmm... 1.5 for the Chinese... the key there of course is "per capita." As I'm about to go back to Asia again next week, I always have to remember to pack my bandanas. Why? To look like a cool Harley-riding red blooded American??? No - to cover my nose and mouth from the smog and exhaust that's found in just about every major Asian city now. It's the result of new consumers who (with 50% of their annual gross salary) can now afford a car. The car, of course doesn't really go any faster than about 10 kph while in the city, but they'll be damned if they're about to take public transportation and not show off their symbol of new found... ummm... "wealth." In Vietnam, the new fashion trend are "designer" smog masks. Masks that feature brand logos like LV...or for kids... cartoon characters! These of course are the images that they never show you in the brochure.
