Rob,

im here in Ancient Olympia, taking a course on Olympic Studies. The first module was about the ancient games (or agonistics), and the Ancient Olympics Festivals. For my surprise, Olympia was just a place where people met in 4 and 4 years, to compete, to discuss philosophy, to worship their gods (Zeus had a huge temple here), and to speak greek again (they came from all parts of the Greek Ancient World). But that's not all, different from the cities, or from other places, Ancient Olympia didn't have a market, so they cannot buy or exchange anything with their "money".

At the end they didnt burn a man, but they made a huge bbq, for everyone who was competing or attending the event. 100 oxen bbq.

and this remembered me the Burning Man Festival.
